2026 Squarespace alternatives

The best Squarespace alternatives in 2026

Squarespace has no free plan: after a 14-day trial, Basic costs $19 a month billed yearly ($25 month to month) and takes 2% of online sales. Heya, which we make, is free for 3 sites with up to 5 pages each, and Pro Lite is $3 a month.

Heya is ours, so read its row with that in mind. Every other number comes from each company's own pages, checked on October 26, 2026.

How each alternative compares

Wix

Free, or Light at $17/mo yearly

Wix's free plan gives you 500 MB storage and 1 GB bandwidth, and puts a Wix banner ad on every page. If you move up to Light at $17 a month billed yearly, you get a custom domain plus a free domain for 1 year. Taking payments starts on Core at $29 a month.

Better at
A free plan to start, and business tools as you grow.
Watch out
The banner ad on free sites.

WordPress.com

Free, or Personal at $4/mo yearly

With WordPress.com, the free plan never expires. You get 1 GB storage and unlimited pages and posts, though it shows ads. Moving to Personal takes the ads off and includes a free domain for the first year, for $4 a month billed yearly or $2.75 a month if you bill every 3 years.

Better at
Blogs, at a fraction of Squarespace's price.
Watch out
Ads on free sites, and plugins only on paid plans.

Carrd

Free, or Pro Lite at $9 a year

Carrd lets you run 3 one-page sites on its free plan. If you want to take the branding off, Pro Lite costs $9 a year. Pro Standard is $19 a year and gives you custom domains, forms, and embeds across up to 10 sites.

Better at
A custom domain for $19 a year.
Watch out
Each site is a single page.

Webflow

Free, or Basic at $15/mo billed yearly

Webflow has a free Starter plan with 2 static pages, 1 GB bandwidth, and 50 form submissions per site, along with a Made in Webflow badge. To connect a custom domain, you'll need the Basic plan at $15 a month billed yearly.

Better at
Design control beyond Squarespace templates.
Watch out
Only 2 static pages on free.

Framer

Free, or Basic at $10/mo yearly

Framer's free plan is for non-commercial use and comes with a Made in Framer banner, 1 GB bandwidth, 500 AI credits, and up to 1,000 pages. Basic is $10 a month billed yearly and adds a custom domain, while Pro is $30 a month.

Better at
Design-led sites for less than Squarespace Basic.
Watch out
The free plan is meant for non-commercial sites.

Shopify

Basic at $29/mo yearly

Shopify doesn't have a free plan. Instead, you get a 3-day free trial, and then you pay $1 a month for 3 months. After that, billed yearly, Basic costs $29 a month, Grow is $79, and Advanced is $299.

Better at
Selling products at scale.
Watch out
It costs more than Squarespace Basic if you don't sell.

Hostinger

From $2.49/mo on a 48-month prepay

Hostinger's website builder has a 14-day trial rather than a free plan. The Premium plan starts at $2.49 a month when you prepay for 48 months, which includes a free domain for 1 year, and then it renews at $10.99 a month.

Better at
The lowest first-term price with hosting and a domain.
Watch out
Long prepaid terms, and a higher renewal price.

Heya

Free, or Pro Lite at $3/mo

Heya is ours. You get 3 free sites at name.heya.bio with 5 pages each, a small Made with Heya badge, and 68 templates. You don't need a card or account to build, just Google to publish, and Pro Plus ($15 a month) exports a ZIP of HTML, CSS, fonts, and images. Pro Lite ($3 a month) gives 20 pages, followed links, and no badge. Pro Standard ($6 a month) adds up to 5 sites and 1 custom domain.

Better at
Free small sites, and a free ZIP of your site on every plan.
Watch out
No forms, store or visitor stats yet.

What Squarespace costs

Squarespace doesn't have a free plan. You get a 14-day trial without putting in a credit card, and while you're on the trial your site stays private and isn't indexed. Once you pay, annual plans come with a free domain for the first year.

The Basic plan costs $19 a month if you bill yearly, or $25 if you pay month to month, and it takes a 2% fee on online products, services, and donations. Stepping up to Core costs $29 a month billed yearly, or $39 month to month, which drops the fee on those sales to 0%. On top of your plan, card payments handled through Squarespace Payments start at 2.9% + $0.30.

The right alternative for your reason

If you're looking for the lowest yearly price, Carrd Pro Lite is $9 a year and Carrd Pro Standard gives you a custom domain at $19 a year. If you want to start on a free plan first, you can look at Wix, WordPress.com, Webflow, Framer, Carrd, or Heya.

For selling products, there's Shopify Basic at $29 a month billed yearly once your 3-day trial wraps up. If cheap hosting with a builder is what you're after, Hostinger starts from $2.49 a month when you prepay for 48 months, and then renews at $10.99 a month. And if you're switching for design control, look at Webflow or Framer.
