2026 phone comparison
How to make a free website on your phone
We make Heya, a phone-browser site builder (3 free name.heya.bio sites, no app) and compare 9 builders.
We compared Wix, Canva, Google Sites, Carrd, Squarespace, Strikingly, Linktree, Milkshake and Heya.
Heya is ours, so read its row with that in mind. Everything else comes straight from each builder's own
pages, which we checked on October 23, 2026.

5 steps to make a free site on your phone
-
Pick a mobile builderChoose a tool from the table that edits and publishes on a
phone, either in an app or your browser.
-
Start a templateOpen the builder and pick a template, or answer the setup questions
if you're using Wix.
-
Put in your stuffTap the blocks or sections to change the text, add links and upload
photos from your camera roll.
-
Check the layoutAdd or move sections and pages around so the site reads the way you
want.
-
Publish to a free addressHit publish to put your site live on the builder's free
subdomain, then share the link.
Wix
Free, or from $17/mo billed yearly
You can build and publish a site in the Wix app or in your phone's browser at Wix.com, though mobile
editing isn't open to all users yet and Wix points to a desktop for complex updates. The $0 plan
needs no credit card and gives you 500 MB storage and 1 GB bandwidth with Wix ads.
- Better at
- answering a few questions and letting Wix build the starting site for you.
- Watch out
- no custom domain on Free, and Light costs $204 a year.
Canva
Free, or Pro at $144/year
In the Canva app, you search "website" on the Home tab, tap Add section for blocks, swipe left to
add pages, and publish up to 5 free sites. Free pages get up to 10 sections and carry a "Designed
with Canva" footer.
- Better at
- publishing up to 5 free sites on my.canva.site.
- Watch out
-
mobile website and link-in-bio templates only publish to canva.link, and custom domains need a
paid plan.
Google Sites
Price and plans not stated
You can view a Google Site on a phone, but Google says you must use a computer to create, edit and
publish one. Sites publish to a sites.google.com address and can use a custom domain.
- Better at
- connecting a custom domain with no price listed on Google's help pages.
- Watch out
- you can't build, edit or publish from your phone at all.
Carrd
Free, or from $9/year
Carrd runs in your browser and calls its mobile builder "somewhat beta-ish", recommending a desktop
instead (on an iPhone, hiding Safari's toolbar via the aA icon helps). Free gives you 3 sites with
up to 50 elements each on a .carrd.co address.
- Better at
- the cheapest custom domain here, on Pro Standard at $19 a year.
- Watch out
- the phone browser editor is only meant for working in a pinch.
Squarespace
14-day trial, then from $19/mo yearly
There's no free plan, just a 14-day free trial with no credit card and no free address to keep. The
iOS and Android app lets you edit block content and publish changes, while Safari and Chrome on a
phone only edit some areas.
- Better at
- a free domain for the first year if you pay for a yearly plan.
- Watch out
-
you can't add or rearrange blocks in the phone app, and you need a computer for some editing.
Strikingly
Free, or from $8/mo billed yearly
The iPhone and Android app lets you create sites, add sections, upload phone photos and publish,
though some sections can't be edited on a phone yet. You get unlimited free sites on a changeable
.mystrikingly.com address.
- Better at
-
unlimited free sites, plus an iPad editor that can add pages and change templates, fonts and
colors.
- Watch out
-
free sites put "on Strikingly" in your browser tab and search title, and removing branding takes
Pro at $16 a month billed yearly.
Linktree
Free, or from $7/mo billed yearly
The app runs on iOS 13+ and Android 5.0+ (not tablets) and lets you pick a template or design and
update your page on the fly. Free gives you unlimited basic links at linktr.ee/yourname and 28 days
of insights.
- Better at
- quick link updates in an app with the same login and plan at no extra cost.
- Watch out
-
you can't use a custom domain on any plan, and removing branding costs $14 a month billed yearly
on Pro.
Milkshake
Free, or from $2.99/mo
Milkshake is an iPhone and Android app where you build, publish and share your site at
msha.ke/yourname with 30 days of insights on the $0 plan. Lite at $2.99 a month takes off the
Milkshake branding.
- Better at
- cheap monthly branding removal in an app made for phones.
- Watch out
- a custom domain requires Pro+ at $99.99 a year, and phone browser editing isn't stated.
Heya
Free, or Pro Lite at $9/year
Heya runs in your phone's browser with no app and no account needed until you publish with Google
sign-in; you tap blocks to edit in a bottom sheet and add camera roll photos (resized to 2048 px).
Free gives you 3 sites, up to 5 pages each, all 68 templates and a
ZIP download of your HTML, CSS, fonts and images.
- Better at
-
editing in a phone browser for free and downloading your site's code from the publish sheet.
- Watch out
-
no forms, store, visitor stats or custom domains live today (domains, basic forms and stats are
planned for Pro Standard at $19 a year).
How we checked
On October 23, 2026, we checked each builder's pricing page, help centre or docs, and app store
listing from a US connection, recording US dollar prices as shown there. Where a builder's pages
didn't mention a feature or price, we wrote "Not stated" instead of guessing. Since we make Heya,
Heya's details come straight from our own product code.
Plans change often. If a number here is out of date, email hello@heya.page and we'll fix it.
FAQ
Do I need to download an app to make a website on my phone?+
No. Wix, Carrd, Squarespace and Heya let you edit in a phone browser, though Carrd calls its
mobile builder "somewhat beta-ish", Wix's isn't open to all users yet, and Squarespace still needs
a computer for some features.
Can I make a website on my phone without a credit card?+
Yes, Wix and Heya both state that their $0 free plans need no credit card. Squarespace's 14-day
trial also needs no credit card.
Which builder is the cheapest if I want my own domain name?+
Carrd's Pro Standard is the cheapest paid option at $19 a year (Heya has $19 a year planned, not
live yet), followed by Strikingly Limited at $96 a year and Milkshake Pro+ at $99.99 a year.
Google Sites supports custom domains and lists no price.
Can I build and edit a Google Site on my phone?+
No. Google says you can view Google Sites on a phone or tablet, but you must use a computer to
create, edit and publish your site, and its help pages don't mention a Google Sites phone app.
Can I take the code for my site with me for free?+
Out of the facts we checked, only Heya includes a ZIP download of plain HTML, CSS, fonts and
images on every plan, including Free, right in the phone publish sheet.
