- Watch out
- The free simple setup comes with a 1-year contract.
Nucleus
Start free
You can start free on Nucleus, which ties your site to a hub of next steps, prayer requests, and
weekly posts. For giving, givers see the 2.3% card processing cost by default, or they can give from
a bank account with $0 in fees. Nucleus says it doesn't mark up card rates.
- Better at
- Giving with the fees shown to givers up front.
- Watch out
- The monthly price isn't on the page without its calculator.
Subsplash
Priced by church size
Subsplash One bundles a website with giving, streaming, church management, and an app for iOS,
Android, Roku, and Apple TV. Pricing depends on church size. Subsplash Giving is $0 a month and has
no contracts.
- Better at
- Churches that want an app and streaming with the site.
- Watch out
- You need a quote based on your church's size.
Ekklesia 360
From $70 a month
Ekklesia 360 runs $70 a month for Basic, $95 for Plus, and $190 for Advanced, with no contracts and
10% off if you pay yearly. Giving costs extra and the app is separate. Their e360 Themes also have a
$500 onboarding fee.
- Better at
- Larger churches that want a managed platform.
- Watch out
- Giving costs extra on top of the monthly plan.
Heya
Free, or Pro Lite, $3/mo
Heya is ours. You get 3 free sites at name.heya.bio with 5 pages each and a small Made with Heya
badge, or pay $3 a month for Pro Lite to get 20 pages and no badge. Heya's 3-page church template
covers service times, visiting, ministries, giving, beliefs, and staff, and you can download a ZIP
of the code on Pro Plus at $15 a month.
- Better at
-
A free church template that links to the giving tool you
already use.
- Watch out
- No built-in giving, forms or livestream hosting.
What a church website needs
A church website needs the service times and the address right in the first screen. From there, you
want a plan-your-visit page that covers parking, kids, and what to expect, along with pages or
sections for your ministries and groups, your staff, and what you believe. You also need a Give
button, plus a place for sermons or a livestream link.
Heya's church template puts all of these across 3 pages. You can embed YouTube or Vimeo videos for
your sermons, and drop in a Google Maps embed so people can get directions.
A free website with the giving tool you already use
Most church platforms charge you monthly for the website and bundle it with giving, apps, and media.
But if your church already uses a giving tool like Tithe.ly Giving or Subsplash Giving, which both
cost $0 a month, you don't need to pay for a whole new bundle. You can keep the tool you have and link
out to its giving page from a free website.
Heya's free plan gives you 3 sites with up to 5 pages each, so you can build the site and point your
Give button to your existing setup. If you want to remove the badge and get up to 20 pages per site,
Heya's Pro Lite plan is $3 a month.
FAQ
What is the best free church website builder?+
Heya's church template and general builders like Google Sites are free. Builders made just for
churches are rarely free, since Tithe.ly Sites is $19 a month and The Church Co only gives you a
14-day free trial. With a free site, you just link out to your existing giving page.
How much does a church website cost?+
On this page, prices run from free on Heya, or $3 a month for Heya's Pro Lite plan, to $190 a
month for Ekklesia 360 Advanced. Tithe.ly Sites is $19 a month, while Ekklesia 360 runs $70, $95,
or $190 a month with 10% off if you pay yearly. The Church Co also charges a one-time setup fee of
$299, $799, or $999 unless you pick a yearly plan with their free simple setup.
Can we take donations on a free church website?+
Yes, you do it by linking out to a giving page. Heya doesn't have a built-in checkout, so you put
a Give button on your site that opens your church's giving tool. Both Tithe.ly Giving and
Subsplash Giving cost $0 a month and work this way.
Can we show sermons and a livestream?+
Yes, both are easy to add. On Heya, you can embed YouTube or Vimeo videos on any page, and the
embed waits to load until a visitor clicks on it. If you want built-in sermon streaming and
archives, Tithe.ly Sites and Subsplash both include them.
