How each site works

Heya's 3-page memorial template takes Google Maps, YouTube and Vimeo embeds, and you get 68 templates on any plan, or you can pay $3 a month for Pro Lite to drop the badge and get 20 pages, or $15 a month for Pro Plus to download a ZIP of plain HTML, CSS, fonts and images.

A calm memorial template with no ads, on a free plan with 5 pages per site.
Watch out
No guestbook or comments: you add the memories yourself or link a form that collects them.

What to put on a memorial website

Start at the top with their full name, their dates, and a photo, then follow that with a life story or obituary. People looking at the site will also need the service details, so put down the date, the time, and the address with a map, plus a livestream link if you have one. You can also list where to send flowers or donations, and set up a page of memories and photos from family and friends.

On Heya, Heya's memorial template has all of these laid out across 3 pages for you. You can embed Google Maps right on the page for the service, and if there is a recording of the service, you can embed it from YouTube or Vimeo too.

Free now, and what it costs later

You can start a memorial on Ever Loved for free, and if you want password protection and control over who can post on the page, their one-time premium upgrade costs $199.99. ForeverMissed also has a free Basic plan, while its Premium plan runs $9.95 a month, $79.95 a year, or $159.95 if you pay once.

Heya is free for up to 3 sites. You can also download your whole site as plain HTML, CSS, fonts and images, which means your family can keep a copy of the memorial for themselves or host it somewhere else later on.

FAQ

How do I make a free memorial website?

You pick a memorial site or a template, fill in the life story, photos and service details, and then send the link out to family and friends. If you use Heya, you can edit the memorial template right away without making an account. When it's ready, you just sign in with Google to publish it for free at name.heya.bio and share that link.

Are memorial websites free?

Yes, you can get a free memorial from Ever Loved, ForeverMissed, and We Remember, and Heya is free for up to 3 sites. If you want to upgrade on the memorial platforms, that costs money. Ever Loved charges a one-time $199.99 for its premium plan, and ForeverMissed Premium is $9.95 a month, $79.95 a year, or $159.95 once.

Can family and friends add memories?

Yes, depending on which builder you pick. Ever Loved and ForeverMissed both let visitors post their own messages, photos and tributes right on the site. Heya doesn't have comments or forms built in, so you either edit the memories page yourself or add a link to a form that collects them from people.

Can I keep a memorial website private?

Yes, if you use a tool that supports passwords. Ever Loved gives you password protection when you pay for its one-time $199.99 premium upgrade. A Heya site is public, and you can turn on Hide from Google in your settings.
