2026 wedding website comparison
Free wedding website builders compared in 2026
Joy, Zola and The Knot all make free wedding websites with RSVPs and a registry built in. Heya, which we
make, is free too and gives you a 3-page wedding template with your story, a countdown, the schedule and
travel tips, with RSVPs going to a form you link, like Google Forms.
Heya is ours, so read its row with that in mind. Every other number comes from each company's own pages,
checked on October 26, 2026.

How each builder works
Joy
Free
Joy gives you a free wedding site at withjoy.com/yourname, with free RSVPs, a guest list, and apps
for couples and guests. Its built-in registry lets you add items from other stores and set up cash
funds. Cash funds are free on Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App, while card gifts have a 3.5% Stripe fee
for the giver plus a $1.70 payout fee.
- Better at
- Password protection, including per-page and RSVP passwords.
- Watch out
-
Its custom domain, about $19.99 a year, only forwards, so withjoy.com stays in the address bar.
Zola
Free
Zola is free to create and publish. It includes guest management, a built-in registry, and RSVPs
that collect meal choices. You can also turn on password protection if you want it. The only paid
feature is a custom domain, starting at $17.99, though you can redirect a domain you already own.
- Better at
- RSVPs with meal choices and a guest list in one place.
- Watch out
- Your site, guest list and registry all live inside Zola.
The Knot
Free
The Knot gives you a free wedding website where you can pick a design, share your photos, and match
the look to your invitations. You can manage RSVPs, link your guest list and registry, and set up a
custom domain. There's also an app you can use.
- Better at
- Matching your website to invitations from the same company.
- Watch out
- The price of its custom domain isn't stated on the page we checked.
Appy Couple
€100 a year or €12 a month
Appy Couple doesn't have a free tier, so you'll pay €100 a year or €12 a month. You get a free Appy
Couple address, an RSVP and guest list manager, a free guest app, and privacy options for open,
password, or guest list only. It has no built-in registry, and custom domains cost $19.99 to $30.
- Better at
- Guest-list-only privacy and a guest app.
- Watch out
- No free plan.
Heya
Free, or Pro Lite, $3/mo
Heya is ours. You can build without an account, sign in with Google to publish, and get 3 free sites
at name.heya.bio (up to 5 pages each, small badge, no card needed) or pay $3 a month for Pro Lite
(20 pages, no badge). Heya's wedding template has 3 pages for your story and countdown, schedule,
and travel, plus venue map embeds, an RSVP link button, and an HTML, CSS, font, and image ZIP
download on Pro Plus ($15 a month).
- Better at
-
A wedding template you can make your own, with no
registry or vendor upsells.
- Watch out
- No built-in RSVP, guest list or password yet, so RSVPs go through a form you link.
What a wedding website needs
Start with your names, the wedding date, and a countdown. After that, guests mostly look for the
schedule for each event with times and addresses, along with the dress code and some travel and hotel
tips. You'll also need a way for people to RSVP, a link to your registry, and a spot to answer the
questions guests always ask, like parking, kids, and plus-ones. And if you don't want the whole thing
public, you'll want optional privacy settings too.
If you use Heya, Heya's wedding template already has the story, countdown, schedule, and travel pages
set up for you, and you can drop in Google Maps embeds for each of your venues.
Built-in RSVP or your own form
The main reason to pick Joy, Zola, or The Knot is that they keep your RSVPs, guest list, and registry
together in one account, and Zola collects meal choices too. The trade-off with those tools is that
your site lives on their web address unless you pay extra for a custom domain. Joy charges about
$19.99 a year for a domain that only forwards, and Zola's custom domains start at $17.99.
With Heya, you bring the RSVP form and the registry you like best and just link to them. You get to
design the site the way you want, and when you're done, you can download the finished site as plain
HTML to keep for yourself.

FAQ
What is the best free wedding website?+
It depends on whether you want built-in management tools or just a simple site. If you want your
RSVPs, guest list, and registry all in one place, Joy and Zola are both free and include all
three, with meal choices on Zola too. If you mainly want a good-looking site for your story,
schedule, and travel tips, Heya's wedding template is free and lets you link out to any RSVP form
you like.
Are wedding websites really free?+
Yes, Joy, Zola, and The Knot are all free to create and publish. You mostly only pay if you want a
custom domain, which starts at $17.99 on Zola or costs about $19.99 a year on Joy (where it only
forwards to withjoy.com). Not every builder is free though: Appy Couple has no free tier and costs
€100 a year or €12 a month.
Can I password protect my wedding website?+
Yes, on most builders. Joy lets you set a password for the whole site, individual pages, or just
the RSVP, while Zola has an optional password and Appy Couple lets you pick between open,
password, or guest list only. Heya sites are public right now.
Can I use my own domain for a wedding website?+
Yes, though it usually costs extra. Zola sells custom domains starting at $17.99 and also lets you
redirect one you already own, while Joy sells them for about $19.99 a year as forwarding only, so
withjoy.com stays in the address bar. At Heya, the Pro Standard plan ($6 a month) lets you connect
a custom domain you already own.
