How your work shows up
A Heya portfolio is built from sections and blocks, so each project gets exactly the space you give it.
- One big image An Image block shows one image, from extra small to full width, as a rectangle, with rounded corners or as a circle. It can link to a page or any web address.
- 2 or 3 across Put Image blocks in a 2-column or 3-column section for a grid of work, or use a split section to set an image beside its story.
- Cover images Each section can take one background image, with a darkening overlay that keeps your text readable.
- Project lists A Links block lists up to 50 projects, each with a subtitle and a thumbnail.
- Video and reels Embed YouTube or Vimeo, including unlisted Vimeo links. Players load when someone clicks; see how embeds work.
- A page per project Up to 5 pages per site for free or 20 on Pro Lite, each with up to 40 sections.

Limits to know before you start
Not in Heya
- A gallery, slideshow or lightbox. Each Image block holds one image, and captions go in a Text block below it.
- Full-size originals. Photos are scaled down to at most 2048 pixels on the long edge when you upload them.
- Video uploads. Video plays from YouTube or Vimeo.
- A store or payments. Link to your shop to sell prints.

- Password protection for client work. "Hide from search engines" keeps a site out of search results, but anyone with the link can open it.
- Custom domains, with Pro Standard at $19 a year.
- Contact forms and visitor analytics.

Sharing your portfolio
Set a share image so your link shows your best piece when you post it or send it in a message. Each site also gets a search title of up to 120 characters, a description of up to 300, a language and a favicon.
You can download your site as a ZIP on every plan, even before you sign up: plain HTML, CSS, fonts and images that run on any static host. The ZIP can't be imported back into Heya; read more about site downloads.

Questions
Can I make a portfolio website for free?
Yes. Heya's free plan gives you 3 sites with up to 5 pages each on a name.heya.bio address with HTTPS, with no credit card, trial or time limit. Free sites show a small "Made with Heya" badge. Pro Lite removes it for $9 a year and raises the limit to 20 pages per site.
How many images can a Heya portfolio hold?
Up to 200 images per site, each up to 20 MB when you upload it. Photos are scaled down to at most 2048 pixels on the long edge. Each page can hold up to 40 sections, with up to 60 blocks in each section.
Does Heya have a gallery or lightbox?
No. Each Image block shows one image, and you build grids by placing Image blocks in 2-column or 3-column sections. An image can link to a project page or any web address, but there's no slideshow or lightbox.
Can I password-protect my portfolio for clients?
Not yet; password protection is coming soon. For now, "Hide from search engines" keeps a site out of search results, but anyone with the link can still open it. Adobe Portfolio lists password protection today.
Can I put my portfolio on my own domain?
Not on Heya yet: custom domains come with Pro Standard at $19 a year, which is coming soon. You can download your site as a ZIP of plain HTML, CSS, fonts and images and host it on your own domain anywhere that serves static files.
How we checked
On October 16, 2026 we read each builder's own pricing and help pages from a US connection and copied the numbers as written: portfolio.adobe.com, cargo.site/information and Cargo's student page, squarespace.com/pricing, wix.com/plans, and carrd.com/pro with the Carrd docs. "Not stated" means we couldn't find it there.
